The Marion Recreation Department will be hosting an informational meeting and registration to discuss our inaugural “Over 55” Adult Softball League this spring.  The league will be a draft league and be limited to six teams, and there is no residency requirement.

The objective of the player draft is to develop team parity and to balance all league teams by competitive skill while allowing team managers reasonable flexibility in selecting players for their team.  Each team will consist of a mixture of players of various skill levels and age 55 & over.

 Each registered player for the draft will be selected in a fair and equitable rotating draft system according to the manager’s specific need; by ability and position.  All players will be notified of their team assignment after the draft.

 In order to cover the cost of lights and maintaining our play facilities, umpires, balls, and scorekeepers, a player registration fee in the amount of $35.00 will be charged.  This includes team shirt, for any player who will be entered into the player’s draft system.

I am registering to play men’s 55 & Over ASA softball.  I promise to abide by the rules of the Marion Recreation Dept. and that it is my responsibility to learn and follow such rules and regulations. The league will consist of 4 - 6 teams and play approximately 12 – 14 games per season at a cost of $35 which includes an imprinted team shirt.  Bats must be approved before purchasing and use in the league.

Registration may be mailed to Marion Recreation Dept., 240 W Church St., Marion, OH 43302  Deadline for registration is February 25, 2010.  Draft is March 14, 2010.  60+ is at 2:00 and 55+ is at 5:00.
